The Power Shot is a finishing variation that prioritises power and speed: you execute a shot with a long approach/movement, aiming to generate maximum shot speed and force to beat goalkeepers or 'explode' the attack with a long-distance shot or in open space.
In FC 26, this type of shot appears as one of the options 'Low Driven Power Shot' (when combined with a low shot) or simply 'Power Shot' from long distance.
Important: the 'Timed Finishing' mechanic from previous titles has been removed, and this type of shot is now part of the modified shot mechanics (Low Driven, Power Shot, etc).
How the Power Shot Works
To execute the Power Shot, you need to input the correct commands: on PlayStation, hold L1 + R1 and then press/hold the shoot button (◯) to charge, and then release; on Xbox, the equivalent: LB + RB, then B.
For the 'Low Driven Power Shot' (a combination of low shot + power), the combination is: hold L1+R1 (PS) + ◯ + ◯ (first charge, then quick input) or LB+RB+B+B on Xbox.
How it Works 'in Practice':
The player needs space to charge the shot; due to the longer 'wind-up', if pressed quickly or surrounded by defenders, it may take time and leave you vulnerable.
The aim is less assisted — you need to have good precision/position for the shot to hit.
The visual effect: grander animation, more 'visual impact', the camera may zoom in (depending on settings) to highlight the 'Power Shot'.
Statistics and 'PlayStyle': players with 'Power Shot' or 'Power Shot+' PlayStyles have an advantage in this mode, greater speed, and higher accuracy on powerful shots.
When to Use the Power Shot
Ideal for long-distance shots or saying 'I want to send a rocket' — for example, outside the box or at the edge of the area, with space for the attacker to prepare the shot.
Avoid using it if you are too close to defenders, or in tight spaces — the advantage of speed/power is reduced if there is pressure or low reaction time.
It works well if the goalkeeper is relatively exposed or if you have a clear line of sight — situations where a powerful shot can beat the goalkeeper before they react.
It can also be used inside the box if the angle and space allow, but many guides suggest that the 'Low Driven' (low shot) is more effective inside the box, while the Power Shot shines more from medium/long distance.
Tips for Making the Perfect Power Shot
Use players with high Shot Power and Long Shots attributes, along with 'Power Shot+' PlayStyle to really take advantage.
Practice in Arena mode or practice mode to hit the ideal strength: don’t overdo the charge, because many high 'rockets' or off-target shots happen due to excessive force or poor aim.
Adjust the aim with the stick: the powerful shot requires you to place the target well, as assistance is lower.
Mix up the shots: if you always use Power Shot, the opponent will get used to it. Alternate between more controlled finishes, Low Driven, etc.
Check camera and visibility settings: a good view of the space helps decide when to prepare a Power Shot with enough time.
Be aware of the 'wind-up': if you are in a pressure situation, it may be better not to attempt an immediate Power Shot, as you could be intercepted or blocked.
How to Disable the Automatic Zoom of the Power Shot
To disable the automatic zoom on the 'Power Shot' in EA Sports FC 26 (sometimes called 'Power Shot Zoom'), follow these steps:

In the main menu of the game, go to Settings → Game Settings.
Within Game Settings, select the Camera tab.
Look for the option 'Power Shot Zoom' (or similar).
Change this option to Off.
Save the settings and return to the game; now, when you make a Power Shot, the automatic cinematic zoom should no longer occur.
