What is Crossplay in EA FC 26?

Crossplay is the feature that allows players on different platforms (e.g. PlayStation, Xbox, PC) to play together or against each other in the same online game. In EA FC 26, this means you can invite friends or face opponents using a different platform than yours, as long as the generation condition is respected.

How Crossplay Works in EA FC 26

Crossplay is available for: PC (Origin, Steam, Epic), PlayStation, and Xbox.

Console generation limitation: players on current generation consoles (e.g. PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC) can play with each other. Players on the previous generation (e.g. PS4, Xbox One) can play with each other — but cannot mix current and previous generations.

The Nintendo Switch platform (and potentially Switch 2) does not have full crossplay support with other platforms.

Game Modes that Support Crossplay

Crossplay works in several main online modes, such as:

Ultimate Team (Division Rivals, Champions, Draft, play with a friend);

Online seasons, friendlies, other cooperative or competitive online modes.

How to Activate or Deactivate Crossplay

On the main screen of EA FC 26, go to the “Settings” option, which is at the top left, near the FC 26 logo;

Then, click on “Online Settings”;

Here, we see the information for “Matchmaking by nearby location” and “Crossplay enabled”

It is important to keep the “Matchmaking by nearby location” option active, precisely to reduce the likelihood of a greater delay between parties.

On the other hand, if you want to deactivate crossplay, just choose the “No” option.

Important Limitations to Know About Crossplay in EA FC 26

Even with crossplay enabled, it is not possible to mix previous generation with current generation. For example: PS5 cannot play with PS4; Xbox Series X|S cannot play with Xbox One;

Switch and Switch 2 do not participate in crossplay with PC/PS/Xbox (or at least not officially supported). This means that players on these consoles will only play among themselves.

Practical Example of Crossplay in EA FC 26

If you are on PS5, and your friend is on Xbox Series X, you can play together (same “new” generation).

If you are on PS4 and your friend is on Xbox One, you can also play together (“old” generation).

If you are on PS5 and he is on PS4, you cannot play together as they are different generations.

If you are on Nintendo Switch, you can only play with other Switch players, and not with PS/Xbox/PC.

If you switch from PS4 → PS5, your Ultimate Team progress can be carried over, but if you switch from PS4 → Xbox Series, it cannot be carried over.
